Paper is biased
« on: April 21, 2005, 06:51:41 PM »
Wrote a letter to the editor last week to the Anchorage Daily News.  They haven't published it yet.  I called to ask why.  The letter was about opening the Dalton highway corridor to off road vehicles on the existing trails.  All I'm seeing published is negative stuff about that subject.  The person at the paper said that they had received so many responses that they felt that all the pro opening letters were a letter writing campaign, and they don't publish those.  I tried to convince her that maybe they were all like me, just concerned citizens.  I don't think I convinced her.  At least the Fairbanks Daily News Miner did publish it today.  Just took a while.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
