454 Casull, what else will it shoot?
« on: April 22, 2005, 04:54:57 PM »
I just bought a 454 Casull off of someone who couldn't hang on to the gun. What other rounds will this shoot?

Thanks!

I may use this for deer hunting this year. This is my first Encore and bought the stainless gold enlay from FoxRidge Outfitters.

You will find it to be a great deer round. Also Welcome to Graybeard. I forgot to add that to my other post.   :D

you can also shoot 45 Schofield rounds out of it.

One thing to remember is to always clean the chamber very very well after shooting a shorter round. It can and will leave a build-up just ahead of the short round and stop a 454 case from chambering. Also watch  for a flame cutting.
I have a 357 mag that has a ring etched out just ahead of the place the 38 special rounds sit. this has no effect on accuracy but case life is shorter and may be worse at the higher pressure  the 454 runs at.
