Has anyone had any luck shooting long pointed rifle bullets (200-250 gr.) out your 357 contender?

Never tried it in a regular .357 barrel, but i shoot 180's & 200 grainers in my 10" .357 Max & my 10" .357 Bain & Davis quite a bit. Seems to shoot 'em fine, no evidence of higher chamber pressure in using .358 diameter instead of .357, as long as you stay within recommended powder charges for that weight of bullet. I also liked the 150 grain Remington .358 SP's back when they were easier to find.

I also tried the .308 pointed bullets in my .357 max. No presure problems, but could not get any accuracy. Finaly gave up on them.

the 180gr Speer flat nose works very good out of my 357max.this bullet is more like a semi spitzer than a flat nose and is a rifle bullet.dont know if a 357mag could push a rifle bullet fast enough to make the bullet work good

I am sure you meant .358 and not .308.  If not maybe that is where your accuracy problems lie!!  :)  :-D  :)  :-D  :)  :D

I shoot a 180 Hornady # 3505 in my 357 Maximum and get 3" groups at 100 Yd.  It says "single shot pistol" on the box and it's .358 spire point. That's out of a Super 14 with a 1.5x4 Burris.  Death to Hogs!
