Hello,
I live in Hiawatha, Ks., NE corner.  How does the bird population look out where you live?
Not much pheasant here, OK for quail.  I see that there is quite a lot of WHA land there.
What do you hear about other Ks. locations.

Hey Prairiedog,

Actually I live in Olathe.  No pheasant here, and the last time I was out the quail were pretty scarce too.  I was not able to  hunt at all last season due to an injury that I suffered July 1st, 2005.  I hope to be able to go some this season, but not sure how much walking I will be able to do.

Be Well,

Frank

Nice, very nice.
I envy you guys .
All I got last Saturday was a lot of grief. Between the briars and warm temps, my dog and I had over 100 ticks (yep, over 100!) on us. Not going back out till it's cold and snowy here in Ct.

went out yesterday, took a trip to Marysville, N central Kansas.  not too good.  my dog is really old, can't hardly walk, but she still has good nose, only good for about 2 1hr walks.  Did shoot 2 quail and a turkey that she lead me too in a creek bed.  I wish I could clone her.
but what got to me was no pheasants, not even flush wild.  I put 275 miles in, I live 50 mi. away, and did not see a bird on the road.  I remember just a couple of years ago when I could easily see a couple of birds every day.  And the game rpt from KDWP says that area is good for pheasants.
Don't know where to go.
I don't need to always kill, but I like to see game anyway.
Any suggestions, heard anybody else having luck?
