Maryland is proposing Serial numbers on pistol bullets ?????
« on: April 28, 2005, 10:03:57 AM »
I read today that in Maryland, they have a bill in to put Serial numbers on pistol bullets by 2007. Now that tops it all off. What a crock.

I just dont understand how they will keep track of all the numbers. Will it be against the law to file them off too?  The only place I can see them putting it, is on the bottom of the bullet, where it would be protected by the brass and from front end ballistic damage.

Okay, Ive already wasted to much time thinking about this dumb bill.

I guess there fired case with every gun theory did not work,  now they want to waste more tax payers money on this. And yes we the shooters will pay for this according to the news article.

Living in Maryland means being in violation of several hundred laws per day. It's a great example of what happens when government gets out of control and the people don't care enough to do anything except make more laws.

Did a quick check & it's california.
Marland was blue around the cities mainly Baltimore & Washington D.C.
The rest was pretty red, unfortunately not enough to overcome.

ed1921, It was in the Tuesday Delaware State news about Maryland.

I live in Delaware and our State went blue also. But it came from up Northern Delaware. The whole lower part of Delaware went red but the numbers from the northern part were over whelming. Most of them are from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. I wish they would go back.

With the current governer, I've heard of no new anti gun legislation this year. He would certainly veto it.

Wow...What a monumental waste of tax payers and shooters money...Heck, if Maryland is going to do it then NY should be close behind...We followed their lead with the waste of taxpayers money ballistic fingerprinting fiasco so why should this be any different.  Anyway the government can bilk us out of our hard earned dollars...

 Let's hope it don't work.........you know lot of these politickers sit around sipping hot tea while dreaming up BS, and give no consideration as to how it will be put in place.  This looks like it could be the case here.  The administrative cost alone would be very high, in most cases it would require many additional personnel in LE to document who bought what from where and record the S/Ns.

Can these nuts that are dreaming up this crap be voted out of office?

You know, I ask my self that every time I watch the news or read the paper. And, you know, all I have came up with is a big fat NO. I hate to say it to, I really do. But, I see no end in there madness.

Its really sad that we are looked at like the bad guys. It seems to me that there are so many people out there that think we are crazy for carring hand guns, or hunting, or target shooting, even having a gun in the house. When it is us that went though a FBI backgroung to carry, we pay are taxes, feed our famliys and hold down jobs that keep the USA running.

It sickens me that when it comes down to passing stupid bills like this one, people like us on this forum are looked at no differently then the gang member down the block. It sickens me that we have to pay for his meer existence as a person. Like he would buy the bullets at the Walmart any way.

                  Whatever.

I checked the Md. government web page for pending/proposed legislation & could find no mention of the bullet numbering.
I think a fact checker may be asleep at the keyboard.
I did find a house & senate bill the repeal the ballistic fingerprinting requirement for new guns.
A response to  the State Police admitting that 2 million dollars were flushed down the drain without solving a single crime.
Not likely to pass with the usual suspects generally elected in the Old Line State.

Honest, hard working taxpaying shooters/hunters/gun lovers are easier to catch than gang members.

I know what you mean. The only people that getting hurt by all of this is the honest guy. Look at the fired case in every gun ordeal. Not one crime solved and millions down the drain. But still the bad guys shooting people. I think they are just trying to keep the anti's happy.

I'm sure it's not happening in Md.
Not that some polititions here wouldn't vote for it or maybe suggested it.
They did give us ballistic fingerprinting & integral locks after all under the democrats.

I live in West Virginia and work in Maryland.  They have limits on how many handguns you can buy in a month, and I thnk they still limit magazine capacity.  Last year, the TV News portrayed a gun show as a blot on the landscape.  Maryland used to be a beautiful place, with some of the finest small game hunting and fishing in the world.  Now it's full of nuts.  Soon as I can retire, the snakeheads can have them all.

Like I said this proposal is in California, not Md. & from what I read it passed. I don't know if further legistlative approval is needed before sending it to the Governator. A real boondoggle for sure.
Thankfully the Md. legistlature adjourned a month or so ago. So they won't be bothering us for another year.

Man I wish I would of kept that news paper. But I am sure it will be brought up in the next secession when Maryland law makers are back.
