Ya know folks, politicians have no prospective, but that rarely matters when they begin proposing rediculous laws.
Why don't Californians sue those politicians to determine their mental capacity for acting in the 'common good'. After all, proposing such an irrational peice of legislation should be sufficient evidence to provide an initial diagnostic impression of being detached from reality - which makes them psychotic, unable to make rational decisions and to serve the public good. They should be hospitalized and treated in a mental facility.
If there aren't any laws in the PRK that protect sitting politicians from being committed for evaluation, then why the hay don't you find a psychiatrist who shoots (I know there must be at least 2 out there) and have them publically call for a full psychiatric evaluation to determine if these politicans are sane and stable enough to make decisions and propose laws for the 'public good'. Once you call their sanity into question, it calls all their actions and proposals into question.
I believe that here in NYS, if a politician proposed something that far out his or her sanity would be called into public question and if a loud enough call for a full-blown psych evaluation is made, some of these people would simply fold and disappear.
Funny part is, the ones you want evaluated would most likely be the ones to scream the 2nd loudest. The ones who are really worried would scream the loudest. And, although there are federal privacy laws concerning patient confidentiality and the release of patient specific medial information, there isn't anything that says you can call for full public disclosure on someone is 'serving in the public interest'.
This would be like putting one of those politicians into a catch 22 - ain't no psychiatrist I have ever met (and I know a bunch of them) who would be willing to publically state that someone is 'perfectly normal' or 'perfectly sane'.
This whole idea is, of course, based upon the insanity of their proposed law.
And, it also smells like the law they passed in New Jersey a couple of years back that every handgun possess some form of advanced technology that would either identify the shooter or prevent the pistol from being fired by someone else (er something like that) - as soon as the technology is developed. Yep, just as soon as it's developed. Don't old your breath.
But you know, these politicans have been using thier dirty tricks on us for years - why the hay don't we use the same sort of dirty tricks on them. They propose laws that call reality into question - why don't we demand a public disclosure of their ability to function in the public interest. Just a thought. Mikey.
