High Grade Model 11 Shotgun

I just looked at a Grade F Model 11 (Browning Patent) shotgun in local gunshop.  This gun has full engraving, high grade wood etc..  Has anyone ever seen/owned one of these, or do you have any idea of the price.  I would say this is an 80% gun.  Thanks. 8)

Sawfish :  From Blue book of val. a model 11 grade F in 80% $975, That should just about tear up a new $1,000 dollar bill. :D    JIM

The only Model 11's I've seen were just plain jane field grade guns. Since not even a whole lotta those were made I'd think an F grade would truly be a rare bird. But then I'm not aware of a lot of collector interest in them either. If you really wanted one I'd think $1000 wouldn't be out of line. Can't imagine me paying that but then I have no interest in owning one.

The "F" Grade Premier was first introduced in 1906 with variations in wood grade and checkering available up to 1940. After 1930, the Sportsman "F" Premier became available. Hope this helps. I have no idea what the value would be.

:oops: Thanks for all of the input.  One thing I forgot to mention is that this gun has a Poly-Choke installed.  We are not sure if this was a factory installation, as adjustable chokes were in vogue and were factory installed at one time.  The choke is not ventilated and there are no choke markings on the barrel.

:roll: JP, Seller is still not sure what he wants (consignment gun), but depending on the price, it is under serious consideration.  You don't see one of these every day.

Guess i should have read a bit farther down before i posted my thread above... what is the difference between a D, E, or F grade? i assume that there is progressively more engraving as you go to higher grades? I got a 28 gauge that i was told was an "F" grade, quite nicely engraved, receiver is covered and it starts up again on the barrel some...great wood, i would rate the wood and metal both at 95% probably...pretty much the only blue wear is wher the barrel contacts the forend in recoil..anybody know of a website , or maybe a gunshop that specializes in these sort of guns? I bought it because i am addicted to nice wood...and this one is incredible..but i wonder what the value is...are the small gauge guns any more valuable from a collector's standpoint? any feedback you guys might have would be appreciated..Thanks!
