Where to purchase my gun
« on: April 29, 2005, 02:29:56 PM »
I have everything in order but now I am thinking about where to purchase the gun.. From Lawdog's posts I have gotten the idea that Compasecco Inc. is the most reliable site. However they have the TF 99 priced $20 higher than pyramydair.com who also has far more pellet options. Has anyone had any experiance with pyramyd air? Oh yes and I was wondering what maintenance supplies to purchase for the TF rifle.

Thanks I know I have had lots of questions lately.. Attempting to enter the air rifle world.

I have bought from both and can say they gave me excellent service although Compasseco has lower shipping rates, at least to my location.

You have to take into account that while Pyramyd Air is a good outlet, I buy a lot of pellets from them, the Tech Force 99M they are offering doesn't have the MacCari spring system.  Jim MacCari WILL NOT sell springs for Chinese rifles to Pyramyd Air or any other company, only to Compasseco, Inc.  This alone is a $25.00 value.

Although Pyramyd Air is one of the bigger companies out there I have had some problems with Pyramyd Air's shipping the right item when ordered.  The last shipment of Beeman Crow Magnum pellets I ordered Pyramyd sent Beeman Kodiak pellets instead.  Pyramyd Air sent me another case but these were the wrong caliber(.177 instead of .25 - easy enough of a mistake to make not be able to tell the difference between the two calibers) .  Took two more shipments to finally get the order right.  Lawdog

Lawdog, I read a post asking about wether or not airgundepot.com included the Jim Maccari spring as they said and you replied that they were probably reselling guns from compasecco. Pyramyd air also claims to include the spring so I assumed it was probably just a resell from compasecco which makes no difference to me. Is this right? There was one thing that bothered me about pyramyd air. They rated the velocity of the TF 99 in .22 at 780 fps instead of 900. This was odd considering that they rated the .177 at the usual 1100 fps.

Thanks for the input.

Could be that the person entering the data for the listing got the wrong information.  Pyramyd Air doesn't pre-test guns before listing them.  Remember if you buy from Pyramyd Air and anything happens to the rifle you are going to have to send it back to Pyramyd Air as Compasseco only covers what they sell.  Lawdog

ok thanks lawdog I sure hope so. You were implying that the velocity rating was incorrect not the information about the spring right? I hope they are smart enough to know if they put a spring in it or buy the guns from a company (Compasecco) who does. I do not doubt you that compasecco is a better company, but I am a kid and am short on money. I will see if my dad will spend the extra $ to buy it from Compasecco. As long as I can get my money back and it has the spring then I would feel ok about buying it from Pyramyd Air.

That's right.  Any listing/ad printed, no matter what it is for, is at the mercy of the person typing in the information.  Maybe he/she/? was using the cut & paste method or just entering the information via keyboard and their fingers hit the wrong key, the velocity data in this one is wrong.  When going to your father for the extra dollars just tell him the warrantee on the rifle will be better with Compasseco, Inc. than Pyramyd Air.  Just ask him how much the piece of mind having a warrantee that WILL be honored is worth?  Lawdog

Thanks Lawdog, you had me convinced and I was going to purchase it from Compasseco. Now I am definatley going to and probably order a scope at the same time. I got lucky and in all this time I was thinking about what to do the TF 99 went on sale and is now only $135 from www.compasseco.com !
