Congratulations DD and CW. ThatÂ’s got to be a record on Greybeards for the most viewed single topic. And that calls for a salute:

IÂ’m sure many will join me in a big Thank You to both of you for moderating such a fantastic forum.

I checked through the board last night and it absolutely IS the record holder by a wide margin.      :) :yeah:

A hearty well done to DD, CW and everybody else who helped to make this the premiere info site for cannons and mortars. :toast:

And it just keeps getting better.   :-D   OUTSTANDING job guys and gals.

This board is what it is because of the folks reading and posting on it!

Thanks also to Graybeard our host and to Neff Cannons and Brooks-USA our two sponsors.

thanks, guys, but CW and I are mere scribes.  A good  many of the links in that post have come from the folks that post on this board.  I lok at it as a collective work.

I just looked and we only have 4960 to go to 15,000.  I also checked and we got 5000 hits on that post since August 2005!  The first post was January 2003.

DD,
You and CW do deserve congratulations and thanks for moderating and maintaining this site. Though there is a collective effort from the talented people here in construction, you guys usually start the new people down the safety path. Thats the most important thing.
Well done and Thank you.

I just noticed another milestone reached - over 40,000 forum views!

Now if we could only get a couple dozen folks together on a production run of a simple handgonne.

How simple is complex enough?  How cheap is "affordable" enough?  A plain cylindrical one with a Tannenberg profile made from steel could probably be made for $100 by a manual machinist.  Would that do?  A 4140 barrel would cost $16 for the metal.  How polished is necessary?  Do you want it blued or browned?
