Can you just take an unsized cast bullet and drive it thru the barrel and then mike it? Is that an acceptable way?
Thanks

I take a bullet of the same caliber as the barrel and squeeze the front and rear very slightly in a vise to get the diameter slightly over sized. Then, lube the bullet with oil and drive it through the barrel, from the chamber end with a dowel rod.

You can also use a egg-type fish sinker, and it helps greatly if you run an oily patch down the barrel first.
