I don't get it until May 14th...the wait is driving me nuts!  :oops:  :-)

What is the best surplus ammo to get? I've been told to stay away from the Indian surplus.

How is the Australian and the South African?

I have shot the south african 308 ammo and its been very accurate in my Saiga& French 49/56 too.  The Indian shots ok but i have had stove pipes with the semi auto at least once with every mag.  My dealer sold me a can of Indian before i knew about how bad it was.  I guess he runs it thru his full auto M14's and m60.  The south african 308 had been the best so far for me.  Remember now the Fr8 was a training rifle for the Cetme.  Are you going to get a Cetme too??  The Cetme is one of the smoothest shooting  308's I have ever shot but its the funky charging handle that just plain sucks.  Its the only turn off to the Cetme otherwise its accurate and cycles great with very little recoil.  I can compare the recoil to the Hakim but its less than the Hakim too.                               BigBill

If the bolt face is flat on the bottom its a Mauser 93. They had a license to build them in the arsenals, so it might have some other model number on it. If I was gonna shoot it, I'd reload my own cartridges and use .307 data. Good luck!  :D

FR8 is a Mauser 98, large ring.  No problem with full-power .308 loads.  I have the best performance with Aussie and CAVIM in my FR8.  South African and El Salvadoran do well too.  Remington 150 grain Core-Loct shoots well, but the Winchester 180's generate lots of recoil!

Metal finish a good 98%
Wood 95% with just a few nicks and gouges.
Barrel is damn near perfect!

Bolt does not match receiver, but I've been told by many that was common with these.
Freind put 50 rds through it so I know headspace is good....

Bought 2 battlepacks of S.African 7.62 NATO spec ammo.... 8)
