Not sure how many of you have a problem with ticks in your area, but around here they can be pretty bad. I know guys who won't hardly hunt spring turkeys on account of them. The following receipe is one I found at a mushroom hunting website that seems to work pretty well for me. A good deal better than deet based repellents like off, and a lot more pleasant to use. It also seems to keep the mosquitoes away too. The receipe was credited to the USDA forestry service.
A good homemade recipe tick repellent for on your clothes and your pets follows (from the USDA forest service):
2 cups white vinegar
1 cup Avon skin so soft bath oil
1 cup water
1 tablespoon eucalyptus oil.
Put this mixture in an old spray bottle. No guarantees but it works for some with success.
I pre-treat my clothing, and then spray a little more on as I am getting out of the truck.
Good Hunting To All,
Frank
