new encore
« on: May 02, 2005, 07:08:35 AM »
I took my new encore to the range today for some quick shooting before the rain started
The encore is a blue frame with a 15 inch 209x50 factory barrel with weaver scope mount 3 tasco rings and a 2.5-7 t/c scope
the load was 100 grs of goex FF black powder, CCI 209M primers, bulk packed orange sabots and hornady 240 gr XTP mag bullets.

I set up a deer target at 50 yards and the wind was blowing quite a bit today.
this was mostly to see how everything worked and it would feel when it went off.

I got a 5 shot group that was about 2 1/2 inches at the 50 yard mark. I know this is nothing great but this is just playing around I know I can do a lot better once I start working up true hunting loads.

I did learn that the ramrod that comes with the barrel is not long enough to do field cleaning. I was able to clean about 7/8 of the way down the barrel. I have a custom ramrod coming to me that has a 2 1/3" extension built in all I have to do is twist it and pull to out and twist it to lock it in place.
