I did a test this weekend with 45 colt I loaded 50 round of 185gr xtps with 10gr of titegroup starline brass fed 150 primers the test I did was 25 rounds I crimped very lightly and 25 rounds I crimped very hard the results kind of confused me the ones I crimped hard did not group as good as the ones I crimped lightly but the velocity on the hard crimped was faster than the soft crimped and the sd on the soft crimped was 28 and the hard crimped was 9 is this normal in author words the chrony data was better on the hard crimped :?

Well I can add my past results to support part of your findings.  When I started up loading the 45LC I did not adjust the die properly to curl the edge of the case into the groove.  The result was not enough crimp and the rounds were all over in performance.  ignition was not consistant weak loads.  when I ran the balance of the ammo through the seating die again  properly the differance was tremendous.  In this case they all grouped well.  pressures went up and they were all full power.  I can only surmise that your well crimped load may be a bit to hot and groups opened a bit.  just a guess here.
