6mm/243 bullets
« on: May 02, 2005, 04:02:56 PM »
does anyone make 6 mm/243 bullets out of fired 22 long rifle cases?

I was wondering if you could use the CCI stinger cases. The chrome finish would be cool look for a bullet.

Even if you don't use fired 22 cases let me know about making 243 bullets
thanks

You don't want to reform bullet jackets or cartridge brass that's been plated. It will separate, either in your die or your barrel.  8)

Ever heard of Joyce Hornady? How about Vern Speer? Not to mention Mr. Sisk (Ray?)... Hornady and Speer were in business together for a time, Lincoln, NE, making bullets out of rimfire cases for jackets, then they "went their separate ways." How about RCBS, stands for Rock chucker Bullet Swage. Mr. Huntington made dies for making your own bullets out of rimfire jackets... H. donaldson? List goes on and on. How long is long enough.   b). I think the "chrome" on stingers is really a nickle plate and while you could use the cases (Dave Corbin, corbins.com discusses it in a book available free without the pictures by download from swage.com) the processing tends to discolor the shiny silver look... NEXT question.

Again, do not make jackets out of plated tube or plated jackets. Seperation is just to great a risk. 8)
