I had the chance this past weekend to hunt turkeys for the first time,out in western NE at a buddy's acreage only a few hundred yards from the North Platte River. He'd mentioned that he'd had a lot of turkeys passing by in his fields and luckily the first night I was there I sat down and saw 11 hens and 4 toms come out at once. Two of the toms were clearly younger and they managed to slip by me out of gun range but after all the hens had passed those old toms came by slowly and I got one. It's quite a bit different to have a bird with great vision only twenty yards away vs. a deer one hundred yards away, gets the heart pumping!
