Need good recipe for 20 guage Skeet/Trap Loads-Help!
« on: May 05, 2005, 09:31:36 AM »
Hello to all,

I need to reload a fair number of shells with my 600 jr for my 20 guage o/u.  I have the following components and I am hoping to make up a good clay busting/shoulder friendly load.

1.  Winchester Super X high brass and AA hulls
2.  Winchester 540 powder (it appears that they have discontinued this     powder). Any comments?
3.   WW209 primers
4.  Winchester WW20AAF1 wads.
5. A variety of 7.5, 8 , and 9 shot.

Any secret recipes you care to share.  I will be shooting both trap and skeet.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hodgdon HS6 is identical to the discontinued W540.

Hodgdon has a few loads for Win AA shells. Using your components in the AA shells:
Win 209 primer
WAA20F1
1 Oz shot

21.5 grains HS6 1165FPS 10,000LUP
22.5 grains HS6 1220FPS 10,900LUP
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

If you want a shoulder friendly load, I'd personally drop down to 7/8 oz. loads.
