Drifted the Chena Today
« on: May 05, 2005, 08:22:02 PM »
Took the boat and ran one hour up the Chena river today, then shut off the engines and drifted back down for five hours. Saw 12 moose on the banks of the river. Two cows got real aggressive towards me, one even charged. She came half way out into the river, before I hit both throttles and left her behind. They had newborns in the brush. As I floated back saw a cow with a newborn on the bank, next to the water. I grabbed a sweeper and held on for about 15 minutes, till she took the baby and left. Did not see any bears. Thought I would, but they just were not there. Did see lots of mallards and teal. Going back tomorrow.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
