Great day of fishing
« on: May 06, 2005, 02:02:45 PM »
Hi, I just had a spectacular day of caddis fishing after work I got to my local stream that I helped stock and nobody else was there. In all of just 3 hours I caught and released 18 trout,no real big ones but WOW what a day.Got 3 on a dropper the rest on dries.Had to snip off the dropper so I could skate the caddis across the water ,they hammered it.I lost about 10 others too.Tomorrow we stock again,I don't think theres room in the creek for more.lol. :D

Wow! Sounds like you have a real honey hole there. Our season is over here, so we are on to crappie and carp and the like.

Some, but not too much yet. I just finished building a flyrod just for carp. I can't wait to try it out. Our local flyfishing club is going to host a seminar on carp fishing on the fly this summer. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to say about it. There is a ton of stuff online if you do a search on it too.

I know how hard they fight on conventional tackle,so on a flyrod ya better hang on tight. :)

what type of flies would u use for carp?  i thought they were mainly a bottom feeder so i would assume nymphs of some type or maybe a streamere worked slow with split shot?
