All right, I finally did it. Being a poor college kid I had been using this Sears mackinaw coat for a few seasons. The buttons have become cracked, the wool is sort of thin and loose, and I just didn't really like the coat. My mom got it for me back about 5 years ago for Christmas though, so I was reluctant to replace it. I decided that it was just getting ragged enough for me to put it into semi-retirement. I put a Bemidji double front, double back coat on order from the company last week. It should be here some time this week. The coat was $160 out the door, which is a fair bit less than a Kromer, which runs about $350 at the local shop.
I looked at how the coat is built. It is a standard coat with a double layer in front and back on the torso, but not on the sleeves. That will be good, as I like my arms to be able to move very freely. Some other companies put a double layer over the sleeves as well, but I think that would be cumbersome. We'll see how I like it when it gets here.
