:cb2: Just curious. A regular 4 inch 629 weighs 41.5 ounces. The new 4 inch .41 Mountain Gun weighs 43 ounces. Why would a slimmed down Mountain Gun weigh more than a regular N-frame with the same barrel length?

Caliber. The size of the holes in the barrel and chambers is smaller in the .41?

Maybe the barrel weight is equalized, & cylinder is a bit heavier, due to the smaller bore diameter of the .41.....

Just a guess.

:cb2: I wondered about that. I don't reload, but I seem to remember seeing that the diameter of the .44 was only .429 and the .41 is .410. I didn't think that little difference would more than offset the thick barrel of the 629 and the thinner "pencil" barrel of the mountain gun.

But hey—if I really knew, I wouldn't be askin'!    :)
