advantage of rimmed cartridges??

Hi, new to forum and new to contenders too.   I've always heard that rimmed cartridges are the way to go in single shots.   But I see that most bottlenecked rimmed cartridges are still headspaced on the shoulder not the rim.   So is a rimmed case still an advantage or am I out of date with my thinking?   Thanks!

They are easier to extract. The extractor on a rimless has to get out of the way of the cartrige body when extracting. Not a big deal really, but sometimes the cases can get pretty scratched up from the extractor
