« on: May 08, 2005, 03:37:10 AM »
Recently bought a 2inch SS 38 revolver, fixed sight, wooden grips, revolver was made in palmer mass, serial # is   .
  it is marked....WESSON FIREARMS,
PALMER,MASS, USA                 38 SPECIAL CTG (BARREL)
                       38S000915
1. I would like to know what model is this since i got it used...DIDNT CAME WITH A BOX And APPARENTLY the owner didnt even fired it yet...

2. when was it made ?? approximate year plus or minus 5...

3. is the cylinder and barrel the same material used in 357 magnums DW revolvers, i mean my 2inch SS is just rimmed out to 38 special but the cylinder basically is used also for 357 magnums DW revolvers??

4. any harm using 38+p ??

5. revolver is bulky and it looks strong...

Capitan,

As far as production dates, there are no available records for such.  Rough dates can be associated with the places where they were made.

Monson, MA  1970 - 1989
Palmer, MA  1990 - 1994
Norwich, NY  1997 - present

If your gun is a fixed barrel model, it was made in the latter part of the Palmer era if memory serves.

I don't know the model number on those guns, but possibly somone else does.  I imagine that for internal parts, it is identical to a Model 14 357.

I don't know what the factory rated them, but I can't see that frame not standing up to +p+ 38's all day long since it is probably indentical to the 357 frame.

I hope that helps, and welcome to the forum.
