Shooters archive download software program
« on: February 16, 2003, 10:54:29 AM »
Some of you guys that moved from Shooters may be interested in downloading their archive or archives.  If so Jim Williams readily agreed to release his MS Access Shooters archive download software.  It defaults to the Blackpowder Cartridge forum but can very easily be modified to download any portion of or all of any one of the Shooters talk forum archives.  Prior to releasing it for your use Jim spent some time to make it very user friendly and even went so far as to provide complete and quite easy to follow instructions.  Follow the instructions exactly and you should not have a problem.

In the Terms of Use agreement, which you are required to accept in order to run the program, Jim also introduces himself as JimInNJ, his “handle” on Shooters Talk and Graybeard Outdoors.  I doubt you will find a software program easier to use, but you will need MS Access 2000 or later on your PC to run it.  Jim did not believe an earlier version of Access would work but it’s worth a try.  What is also great about the software is it does not require a working knowledge of Access.  I checked it out on my PC and it ran without a hitch.  Just make sure you click on the instructions field in order to understand how to configure the software for your needs and set up a folder (directory) to receive the files.  As a side note, you will not run afoul of copyright restriction if you only use the program to download files for your personal use and do not distribute them to others. If it works for you please send Jim your thanks.

If you’d like a copy of the software send your request to my email:

In that way I can much easier respond to your individual requests and don't have to constantly check the talk forums for your post. I'm getting numerous requests from all over the place. Also, there are no distribution restrictions so you can send/forward the software to anyone you desire.
