You didn't include mine.  I am really enjoying my new .204.  It doesn't make them blow up like some of "your favorite deer rifle" might, but it sure is nice to shoot.

I have not ever used a .223 except in the military and they don't let you shoot to many groundhogs.  I only have limited experience with the .243 too, so I guess I have to go with my "favorite deer rifle."

Alex T,

You didn't say which was yours?!?!?!

A Winchester M70 Coyote in .223 WSSM with a Burris Black Diamond 6-24x 50mm scope.  It really reaches out to touch them varmint type critters.  Lawdog

My favorite groundhog rifle is my open sighted 1894C 357 magnum. It makes hunting groundhogs "fun" again. I love sneaking up on'em, and busting them with that little rifle!

Second favorite would be my 357 Blackhawk...

25-06 using 75 grain V-Max's @ 3800fps.

My other whistlepig rigs are a 223 and a 17HMR.

Furthest confirmed for 2005 is just shy of 230 yards with the 223.

Unless you go to the wildcat's, a 22-250 is about as good as it gets.  Larry

Well,

You didn't list the one I use the most... .22-250!
I have a real old one built on a WWII K98 action that has seen way too many rounds put throu it over the last 25 + years it has been around here. I have no idea how many went through it before we got it.

My favorite woodchuck rifle is a Sako Varminter in .222Rem.  I'm good out to about 200yds.  Anything beyond that I simply have to work a little harder.  Best wishes.

22-250 ........Tikka T3 Varmint

In my area the top ones would be mostly 22-250, .223, .204, along with some  swifty, .243 and a good number  .17 hummers for rim.

Own a Ruger 77 (1976 model) w/ bull barrel that will reach out and touch the chucks. Funny thing though, around here there aren't too many woodchucks anymore. The coyotes get them.  So we shoot coyotes instead of chucks.

Right now my Remington model 700 BDL 223 Rem. is my varmint gun. I also have a Rock River Arms AR-15 A2 Tasc Rifle. I'm gonna get RRA's 24 inch complete upper half with the EOP and 1 in 12 inch twist. My friend has this same set up. He replaced the rear receiver pin with a sex screw to tighten it up. He shoots 3/8 of an inch groups at 100 yards. I'll probably never get mine to shoot that good. He hand loads and has a lot of experience doing it.

I also like Remington's new model 700 CDL. So a 243 Win. might also be in my future!

I like my 17HMR, I like my 243, but I love my Remington targetmaster 22. Out to 100yds the Win Power Points will kill ground hogs just fine from the top of the chest to the head. It is just something about that old gun that just feels right and it is light as a feather. For me it is more fun to hunt a ground hog than to snipe one.

i bought a new weatherby varmit master rifle when they first chambered it in 22-250(about 35 years ago)what a beautiful german built rife.the wood is to die for and the rifle is still very accurate.it wore a straight 12x leupold scope, then a 16x leupold. i must have killed 1000+woodchucks upstate new york with it using 52 gr sierra match bullets @3800 fps.
I also used a model 70 varmit with a 15x unertil ultra varmit scope but in 243 win.Sierra 85 grain hp bullets were deadly @3350 fps I bought that rifle new in 1965 it was also very accurate
i have made some very long shots with both rifles(800 yards confirmed). two great calibres for wood chucks back when you could shoot all day and the farmer's loved it.and no one complained about the noise.
its a hard choice to make but i have to go with the 22-250.the hits were SPECTACULAR
