Odd Moose question!
« on: May 09, 2005, 12:16:26 PM »
Is there ANY earthly possible way a trophy bull Moose can still have his rack this time o year?  Specifically Northern Vermont (St. Johnsbury I think?)  I have a guy at work who claims to have seen the biggest moose of his life with the biggest rack he has ever seen while on a bike trip there this weekend.  And NO he was not kidding, he is dead serious!  Now Im no Moose expert, but I dont know how a moose could still have his rack this time of year.  So whats up?
Brian M.
P.S. Yes I asked if it was real and not a statue.....like I said, he is dead serious.

I seen deer with head gear at odd times of year, so I wouldn't be surprized if the same thing can happen to moose now and then. Just a fluke though.

if you think about what you heard... it can make sense... if they were actually that huge, perhaps there was an extreemly dense overgrowth around the crowns.. and they couldnt turn loose... it would be an oddity of course.. but..possible yes..  it could also be this particular moose's system is off a bit..and they will drop down the road in time... when your dealing with natures screwups.. anything goes...
