Leupold Rings...
« on: May 10, 2005, 02:57:09 PM »
I have a Handi in 30-06 coming in soon and I'm looking to mount a Leupold scope. What leupold rings (walmart preferably) will fit the handi-base?

Thanks...

The Rifleman rings will fit, you need rings that fit a Weaver style base.

I knew I needed Weaver rings. But the idiots at Walmart don't have a clue. Do you happen to know what models will fit?

Quickdtoo - where in SW WA are you? I'm in White Salmon...

Vancouver!! I drove thru Bingen last Tuesday, will be driving thru again this friday headed for north of lyle for another day of turkey hunting!

I know there are several leupold Rifleman ring users here, the PRW and QRW will also work. You more than likely will need high rings, but it depends on the scope power ring/eye bell size and how it's mounted. What scope are you mounting?

Where in Lyle are you hunting? My uncle owns land up on the little Klickitat where I took a nice tom opening day.

I'll probably mount the 3-9x40 Rifleman scope on the SS 30-06.

I don't have a Rifleman leupy, but I do have a VX1 2-7x33 mounted on my UltraComp using medium Burris sig zees which are .270" tall, if that helps any. They are measured from the top of the rail to the bottom of the scope tube.

We hunt on a farm in the major creek area. I got a tom on the 19th, but my partner has yet to strike a bird. We have some friends that live on the Little Klickitat, Raunchy and Liska are the names that we know them by, they have a lodge(teepee) set up in on their property on hwy 142 right near the little klick. Are you hunting for #2?

Nope... Not hunting for a second bird. School and work calls. My uncle is pretty far up, towards Centerville. I got the bird, almost by accident. I normally hunt deer, but not turkeys.

I think I'll go with the high rings just to have lots of room for the hammer. I looked at a Sightron but the eye relief was pathetic. I'm not sure I want a light 30-06 recoiling 1/2" from my eye ball. Thanks for the help...
