22lr Chamber Adapter
« on: May 12, 2005, 02:03:57 AM »
Has anyone used one of the .22lr chamber adaptors (such as offered by EA Brown) in a .223 Encore barrel?  They claim sub-inch groups at 50yds, is this realistic?

I have shot both Bullberrys and  the old Virgin Valey's- I like the VV better and I believe that they are still available from Steve Stratton @ 435-635-5547. Give him a call. I use mine for 17HMR

Reelhook,

Are you refering to the rimfire firing pin conversion?  I was talking about a chamber insert that holds a 22LR in a larger .224 barrel, like a .223.

I have been using one and get about 1 moa. remember the 223 barrel is 223 and 22 is .22 a little smaller. 22 mg is 223 so I get a little better.

Joe,

Thanks for the info.  Are you using .22 mag in the .22LR adapter or is there an adaptor specifically for the .22 mag?  Whose adaptor are you using?

Thanks
Jim

No!!! I have two separate adapters one for 22lr and the other for 22 mag. I have them home so I don't know which brand. I have been using them in a 12-inch TC Encore 223. The 22s are more accurate then the 223s.

I also found some gpher loads for the 223. go to www.jamescalhoon.com. He has reduced loads using 880x, bluedot and unique powders. You can download these 223s to 22 mag or 22 hornet levels.

Coopershooter,

Who made your .22 K-Hornet to .22 LR adapter?  This is one that I really wanted to get.
