« on: May 13, 2005, 02:02:00 PM »
:D Hi guys, took out my stainless Winchester in 25 wssm today, along with 4 other rifles it was a great day.
Rifles has a 22 inch barrel and a Leupold vx111 2 1/2x8 scope.
First was the factory stuff,115 gr Nosler CT Balistic tip.
Average velocity was 3018 fps and best 3 shot group=1.22
Sierra 100 gr sp bt. was 3075 fps.not a max load group =.90
Nosler 110 gr.accubond,was 3115 fps.and it  shot the best group =.722
I think it will be a great hunting load.
I will try some Barnes 100 gr XLC and 115 gr Triple shock nexted week.
I'm verry pleased with my rifle.
I also made 4004 fps with my 257 STW.With a Barnes 100 gr XLC.
iT WAS A GREAT DAY

Frank,

For any deer hunting try the 100 gr. Barnes TSX.  Out penetrates the Nosler 115 gr. Partition and better accuracy.  That is what my son and I are loading in our .25 WSSM's.  That is what my Daughter in-law used last year to take her first two deer.  Both one shot kills and one dropped so fast his head was still in the live oak where he was eating acorns.  Lawdog
