Does anyone know what the horsepower rating is for the 800 and the 700 (carb & efi) Polaris ATV's.  All that I can ever find listed is the cc size.

None of the makers of ATV's list HP ratings anymore.  Some ads in magazines may say something about a HP rating but it didn't come from the manufacture.  As far as the Sportsman 800 EFI goes it's the most powerful one made today.  For hunting or fishing that much power isn't really needed.  For farm/ranch work where you are hauling heavier equipment than OK.  This sucker is a monster with brute power.  Lawdog

I test drove both the 800 and the 700 and couldnt really tell any difference. The 800 seems to sit about an inch higher, but that may be due to the larger tires.

I couldnt really justify the extra 1200 bucks for the 800, so I got the 700.

Ive been turkey hunting all over the Ozark Mountains with it, I cant really see the need for anything more.

Just my observations...

My only rationale for getting an 800 is for food plot work, basically using it as a tractor, not just for riding around.  I know a 400 would be plenty big enough for that.  I'm thinking more along the lines of loading up a set of disc's, drag harrow's, dragging out logs etc without getting boggged down.  The extra ground clearance is a plus as it can get wet and muddy in places here in Central Fla when you get off road.
