Handi barrel swap?

Although not reccommended be NEF   I know if done the correct way this can be done safley. Nef doesn't fit rimfire barrels to centerfire frames and the handis are all centerfire.  Has anyone hear been able to fit a 22 magnum barrel to there handi rifle. My friend wants to do this and he has a 30/06 handi and a .223 ultra varmint rifle.

Ahem....the firing pin is in the wrong location.... :roll: Although some handis have offcenter firing pin strikes, it's not enough to hit the rim of of a rimfire round where the priming is, a center strike won't set it off.

Never heard of someone fitting rimfire to centerfire frame AND LEAVING IT THAT WAY.  On another forum I read of a guy that says he successfully rechambered a 17 HMR barrel to 17 Rem.  He was a pretty credible poster it seemed so I have no reason to doubt him.

I think he pulled the trigger in the 17 HMR barrel with a round in the chamber to see where the firing pin struck and it was dead center on his.  Not sure if all would work that way.

Again, never heard of it working the other way around, but ya never know unilt you fit them together.  Might even try it with a fired round to see where it hit.  I think a lot of rimfire pins are square.  Not sure, but the dents don't look round to me.  Someone here might know that for sure though.
