Has anyone had the opportunity to shoot a SA 1911A1 (or any .45 for that matter) with the new Crimson Trace LG-401 grips with front activation? Am thinking of fitting a laser sight to my .45 and these seem to be good.

I have shot with thoughs grips a time or two. Grips and laser seemed fine, they worked like a charm.

Lasers on the other hand are just not my thing. I think they hurt my shooting more then help. And, I really cant see my self ever needing/using one in real life. I do not think it whould help in a home invation or in a car jacking or even somthing like being jumped at a ATM. It is just one more thing to remember to push, when under high stress and presser/fear of an atack.

But hey, if you want one, I think the grip laser on the 1911 is the best way to go. Easy to install too.

I'm just VERY surprised that the luddites haven't come out of the woodwork in droves over the mere mention of laser sights.  That usually really lights them up.

I have the LG 401s on my Kimber.
I dont think they are a huge advantage tactically, in a self defense situation.
They do help me shoot tighter groups at the range though and in my opinion, these are probably the best night sights you can get if you are not worried about a red line giving away your position.
As for activation, the front strap button is great, I dont think about pressing a button at all, it comes on with a normal grip from the middle finger.
