Hi Standard Help
« on: May 16, 2005, 05:11:19 AM »
I am looking at buying a HD Military 4-1/2" heavy barrel pistol with seriel # 258XXX that is in pretty good shape and appears to have not been used much but it has a couple condition problems I need to research first.

1) The gun is an all blue model - some advertisement indicate all blue were rare?????. The sights are high profile with a micro adjustable rear site. The serial number is one of the newest I've seen and it has the New Haven Conneticut address. How old is it?? Can ya tell me anything about them.

2) It appears the previous owner did not know how to take the side off and worked on the slide release lever with a screw driver boogering it up some. My question here is that the release lever and the internal arm that catches the recoil spring plunger has some slop to it. IT still works but there is a fair amount of play - I dont now if they are supposed to be solidly connected or not and since it was boogered up. Can anyone tell me if the lever or arm might need replacing?? Are parts available for these guns??
Most men wil blink an eye or take a breath before pulling the trigger, I won;t

Charlie :  All though it says HD military this model was NOT manu. for the Military, some 150,000 mfg. 1946-55  If 100% $600 down to 60% $150 add 20% for all-blue finish, as far as parts go try the usual parts suppliers. :D    JIM
