What would be the lightest silhouette-appropriate scope/rings/base for a Rem 700? Thanks in advance.

I would have to say a Leupold BR-D in 24x and let Mr. Metalhead Pearson make you a set of his rings and bases.

Hey down there,
 You guys shooting HP this weekend?
 Far as scope, the M8s or older 24X are 16oz, but at todays prices?upgrading the old things can get pricey and when wer'e done nobody else but a Sil shooter would want it. (I'm too into em to back out now) they're still good for HP but RF I might look at some of the others. rings and bases-- weaver aluminum bases and Millet Ultra light rings have been on my stuff for several years, about an oz or so, figure on heli coils as the aluminum won't stand much. also won't take a great deal of abuse as far as dropping etc. HOWEVER at $12-$17 set (low-med-high available) from Brownells they've fit rifles, budget quite well. I know the're not "precision" fit to the scope etc. But out to 500mtrs they've done well and even at  1000 on couple of occasions.

I have a couple of sets of the single screw, for me there a little to high for me. They may work just fine for you or others.

Just thought I'd report that I traded e-mails with Mr. Marvin Pearson and decided to try his base/ring combo and HOLY SMOKES. These things are bee-you-tiful, light and strong (four screw.) You real equipment freaks need to check these out.

Ajj,

Fine choice!  Marvin makes some fantastic gear.  Consider it as BLING for your rifle.  I cannot shoot worth a crap so I need my equipment to look good so I can fool some people.
