Got a question.  While riding my bike along the Bike path, in Matteson,Ill., i ran into an interesting situation that made me stop and watch.  There was a big goose in the pond swimming lazily along the bank.  All of a sudden, it goes completely underwater, like something pulled it down.  It wasn't diving(pond depth is about 2' deep).  It surfaces and does it again.  Surfaces and ruffles it's feathers and continues to paddle along the bank.  It didn't seem distressed, just Happy!  Do geese do this????  I am curious, has anyone else, seen this happen?

The last time I saw something like that, a big 'ol snapping turtle had a hold of the foot.  It was a duck in my instance.

I have seen this before, while watching park geese. I believe they are just washing themselves. Maybe the mites get to them, and they want to drown a few..
Shadows grow long, a chill is in the air. Ancient urges prompt us. Instincts wake up, after lying dormant....Time to hunt.
