Hello,
I am planning to buy a new barrel and scope for my encore. I was thinking about buying from ed's contenders because he had really good prices. I just wanted to know what sort of return policy he offers. Although they are quite abit higher priced, Ilike the fact that fox ridge will return for any reason, even if you just dont like the way a specific barrel shoots.

Thanks
Fatcat

If you want to know what Ed's return policy is, I would strongly suggest you ask Ed.

As far as doing business with Ed, you cannot go wrong buying from Ed! He is a stand up guy with a good reputation.

Good luck,

Fred

Fred, that was my thoughts as soon as I read his question. Call Ed and ask him.  :D

Yes I know thats the obvious thing to do but I wanted to see what some of your actual experiences have been with eds... I know sometimes what a company says it will do isnt what you actually get.  If no on here has attempted to return to Eds then I guess I will call him and go with what he says

I have bought barrels from him and shot them for a while and traded them in for something else.  He gives a real fair trade in price.

Ed said at one time he wanted to rent barrels. I forgot what the costs were. One thing was you have to agree to buy the barrel (creit card numbers) if kept over limit time. Call and ask Ed.

My only complaint about Ed is that he has too many barrels that I want to buy and I do not have the money for them.  :)

I bought my Encore frame from Ed and drove down to OKC to pick it up since it's only like 90 miles away for me. Ed was significantly cheaper than what they wanted locally for for it. Excellent stand up guy to do business with. I happen to catch him on THE busiest day of the year for him and he still took the time to chit chat and even gave me a free magazine that had an article on OTT's custom barrels that I was interested in. The man loves his T/C's and is very knowledgeable about them.

The magazine was probably "One  Good Shot", the journal publication of the Thompson Center Association for TC collectors and shooters.

Ed is a stand up guy. I work about 10 min. from his shop. He has a regular 9-5 job but takes care of his TC customers.
I have purchased several barrels, scopes, grips and other parts from him. I have never found any better prices than his. He has a lot of barrels that are used but may have only fired a few rounds from or they have been opened and closed a bunch and will have small rub marks on them. His used inventory is very good. I just found a TC Custom Shop Hvy Bull .243 Encore he had under a bunch of stuff and took it off his hands. It came with a custom forend.
Keep calling him until you get him. He is usually in the shop later in the day, packaging and mailing barrels and stuff. The post office is next door to his shop so he boxes and walks next door and mails them.
Good luck.
