Excellent cal. no recoil ,flat shooting I would bid on it only if the barrel would just drop into the handi frame with out a smith to fit it to the action. :D
I shot the 7x57 for years on the mauser action the longest shot taken was a little over 300 yards at a 4 pointer ,hit the deer dead center in the chest ,scope crosshairs were aimed a little over it back  :-D

$175 for the barrel??  I've yet to pay more than $165 for a complete Handi!!

I do love the 7x57, though, and I have one in a Ruger No 1-A.

Mac i think you're wrong on this one. This barrel will go over $200. My 450 marlin barrel went for $150

I think Mac's guesstimate is a conservative amount.....the 22 jet barrel went for $202.50, IIRC for example.

$127.50 right now with three days still to go..................Mac may be under-guessing this one.

Varminter - PM me with the details of becoming a seller on Ebay if ya don't mind. I might like to try to sell a couple of items there myself.

Longcruise,
No, 7x57 reamer will not clean up the 7-08 chamber.

I would not mind having it but I have the 7mm-08 and the 280 Handi's so it would not make sense to go very high. Of course many times Handi addicts do things that don't make sense.
shot placement is everything.

I really hope someone here gets it. Mine is one of the best Handi's I have, a real "Classic" Handi in a great caliber that can really do it all...I was going to bid on the barrel but I thought since I already have one I would not drive up the price for the others here that don't have theirs yet..Best of luck to all, the 7x57 and the Handi just seem to go together, a classic and classy deer gun....<><....

Mac, I am one of the lucky ones who have both a 7x57 and a .35 Whelan barrel. If I had to choose between them (I hope I never do!!) I would probably keep the 7x57 as the most versatile. The .35 Whelen however, would get the nod as the more powerful...<><....

$250 is ridiculous price, especially when you can get a 7mm-08 barrel for $100 fitted.

I guess someone wants it real bad!!
