Hey guys, olredhead here. Usually lurk around over on NEF Centerfire but have a little story and a couple of questions.
Several weeks ago my son did a little swapping and came home with a couple of new 22's. One was a M16 style rifle, never a big fan of the para-military type I had to try it out anyway. Was not impressed. The other gun was a shiny little 9 shot revolver, not being much of a pistol fan I just ignored it. A couple of weeks ago on a slow afternoon I took a closer look and discovered it was a Taurus double action, appeared stainless and was clean, pretty tight and well balanced but was missing the blade from the rear sight.
One slow day at work I milled out a square notched blade that would fit the slot. Ready for firing, 6 inch group at 25ft 6 in down and 6in left. Adjust, after rackin my old brain to remember which way to move a rear iron sight. Mostly scopes these days with the old eyes kinda fadin. Got it moved to the center on the next load, elevation, next group was right on and had shrunk to about 4in.
After a couple of boxes of 22's during the next week I'm puttin most of my shots in the bottom of a pop can (or beer as the case may be) at 25 to 30 ft and thinkin maybe I might like to have a pistol again. Makin this story shorter I told my son I was having fun with his little trade gun and he said Happy Fathers Day.
Now as a proud Taurus owner of a ,I think Mod 94. That's the first question, where is the mod# located? Also I've found it's nickle not stainless. And where can I find a replacement blade for my rear sight?
This thing is just pure fun to shoot and with Moderator ammo I don't even need ear plugs. Look out possums, and thanks in advance for listening to my long winded story and any help you can give. GB has the greatest bunch on the web. olredhead
