I finally found a .44 Magnum Handi, with the older Patridge blade sights, used at a local store. I had given up, but walked in and found it hidden with the shotguns.
It is a keeper. I cleaned the barrel really well, mounted a 3-9X40 scope, then loaded up some Lee 310 grain round nose flat point gas checked bullets over a max load of H110. Under a inch and a half at 100 yards for 5 shots. Since the bore slugged over .430, I used the bullets unsized as they dropped from the mold, I gas checked them by running them upside down into a sizer until the check crimped on.
I am very happy with this rifle, accurate and now very cheap to shoot. It will make a nice companion for my .44 revolver this fall in the woods.
