I bought the Buckmark Camper last week. The barrel contour is the biggest difference between it and the Standard model. Though the barrel lengths and overall weights are the same, to me the tapered round barrel of the Camper produces a less muzzle-heavy feel than that of the slab-sided bull barrel of the Standard. That's a good thing for me. This Buckmark is replacing a Ruger Mk II Government Target model with a 6 7/8-inch bull barrel, which I found to be far too muzzle-heavy for my tastes.
It also appears that the Camper's grips are rubber, whereas the Standard has some type of molded composite grips. I like the rubber better.
I also bought the new stainless version of the Camper. It was the first specimen of this new model that I had seen, and I like it a lot (which is why I bought it!). I never liked the matte-blue finish of the original Camper. This may not be true in reality, but the matte finish didn't appear to be that durable to me. I also though the nickel-finish model looked a bit garish for my tastes. So, the stainless model was an instant hit for me. I just hope she shoots as good as she looks, but that will come next week if the weather holds out.
