45-70.I'll be willing to bet the 45-70 and .223 are the biggest favorites.
The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70..it's almost a religion.

Hmmm, I'd have to say the 45-70 also, but then there's the 22 Hornet and the 204 ruger, but the .223, 243, 25-06, 270, 280, 30-30, 7x64, 30-06 and 357maxi are all fun too...then there's the 45-120 BC and 338-06 too, that I really like!!!! Hmmm....guess I have to say they're all fun!!!!! :-D  :-D  :-D

Put me in the same category with hellacatcher, Mac and Quick...

Some calibers are easier to reload, some shoot/don't shoot cast well, some are cheaper to by ammo for, some have less/more kick than others, some calibers are said to effectively stop various varmints and critters such as: pigs/deer/moose/elk/ba'rs/prairie dogs/squirrels/dinosaurs...etc...etc

But as far as I am concerned - It ain't so much the caliber as it is the gun!

That bein' said however, shortly I expect my favorite caliber is gonna be 357 mag (at least for a while) 'cuz I am waitin' for a 357 barrel to come back from H&R!

Happy Handi-in'..

Although I like my scoped .243 Handi, which is a long range tack driver, I prefer to use my 30-30 Handi for shooting at ranges less than 100 yards.
If at first you don't succeed, by all means try again. But if this doesn't work, give up, because there is no sense in making a darn fool of yourself.

If you ain't got a 44 Mag, you ain't livin' I've often thought "What if i could only have one......Nope, gotta have three, and 44 is top of the list. It don't get the publicity 'round here that other chamberings do, but I;m willing to bet that more 44 owners would rather part with anything else first.

I would have to agree with JPH45. The 44 mag handi is one of the best IMHO. It may not get the recognition of the 45-70 or 223 but  it is on the top of my list. My second chose would be the 223.

Though I am a rookie in the Handi world and I only have two Handi's, my favorite is the .223. I might point out that both of my rifles are in .223 but that doesn't really matter. Accuracy from my Handi's have exceeded my original hopes. I guess I was a skeptic at first but my friends here at home and on this forum convinced me to get a single shot Handi.

Additions to my firearm family will eventually include a 45/70 BC, a .204, and possibly a .243.

I have yet to fire my new 45-70.  It's the first rifle, other than a 22 that I have ever owned.  I'm quite sure it will be near the top of the list.  But, like some of you, I just can't choose just one.  I like 'em all.  12ga, 20ga, 20ga Slugger, haven't ever fired a 410 either, but I am sure I will like it.

No. 1 for me would be my 280 with the 44mag/445 supermag being no.2 The 280 will handle anything I shoot with it,at longer ranges than the 45 70 or the other's I have. The 44 mag/445 super mag will do just about anything my 4570 barrel will do with less powder, and a lot less kick.Just my 2 cents worth. Digger

I've got a .223, .243, 45-70, .35 Whelen, but my favorite is my 30-06 by far.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
