Dan, the best way I can tell you to see some nice Myrtlewood is to do a search...I just got this computer hooked up today, and am not sure how to search and send pics yet. It is a hardwood with some nice patterns, swirls, colors in brown, vanilla, yellow, chocolate...really nice stuff! This is the only wood that Double D said he would let slide and not paint, due to the type of materials it is...just sand and clear-coat. BoomLover

RocklockI, post a picture of your carriage, maybe we can determine if it is Myrtlewood. When you order it, it is very specifically noted as Myrtlewood, about the only other wood that looks anything like it is Olive Burl. BoomLover

If that wood is raw you should be able to smell it, myrtlewood has a incense sweet like smell similar to bay leaves.

Just because there are a few flurries of snow gathering in (some of) our backyards, does NOT mean we should stay quietly inside!  This forum has been a great place to SPEAK! and to introduce new folks to the world of BLACK POWDER CANNON.  CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS celebrations are a great time to do both! Remember this one?   One of our favorites: brass barrel, black powder cannon/firecracker launcher with a red carriage in celebration of the upcoming holidays  Tried and true salute, carriage is available in several finishes:

In keeping with tradition, we are offering several holiday specials for GBO Members.  Please check out the GBO classifieds...and for more offerings, go to www.brooks-USA.com -- Let us know your GBO identity, and we will extend free shipping to anything you purchase there during this special time. If you would like, we will provide a Red Felt Santa SAK (pictured below) to simplify the gift-giving!  We will even add a card and drop ship for you.  Here are a couple of new BROOKS-USA Parrotts you might like to ask santa to put in your own stocking (see specifics in the classifieds):
And, yes, we do have bigger barrels for those of you who have been VERY good!  Michael and jb

Whoa Gary,  I didn't know you would get that far today.  She looks great!  I'm glad you mentioned that color.  There are a bunch at Valley Forge that are painted French Royal Artillery blue-gray.  I need you to give me a kick in the butt to get me going on that flank howitzer I talked about two weeks ago.

That's a well proven firecracker tube too!  Real nice combo.

You did a good job, Gary; I like the looks of it.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Where did you get the hardware?  I don't think you cast it because you never talked about it.

Got a short note from Rays89, says he misses the cannon forum, and the guys...is still working on recovery, but it will take a long time...broke every bone in his hand...so, his projects are obviously on hold...but he is working at it and seems optimistic...just an update.  BoomLover
