Douglas, maybe he didn't spread the word, and maybe I got it wrong, but his hand was smashed, broke every single bone, massive damage...it will take a long time and lots of therapy and prayers for him to regain use of it, and it may only be limited use, at that. It will be a long time, and maybe never, till he can attempt typing...I think he is using one hand, his left, at the moment...I told him we are all pulling for him, and he is in our prayers.... Jim

dont know how to lift that one frame ?

I like your field piece a lot Gary and the movie was cool.  If you really want to get some spectacular photos of the single most perfect frame from your movie, then go to Frame Shots website and sign-up for their one year service.  It's only $ 25 and if this old fart can figure out how to use it in about 10 minutes, you should have no problem at all.  All you have to do is in blue below:

                      Frame Shots Guide

•   Click “Open” to open a new video file.
•   Hit the play button to play the movie.
•   Hit “Snap Shot ” to take a snapshot of the movie. This captures a single frame of video.
•   Hit “Save Thumbnail” to save the thumbnail to a file.
•   The two double arrows and the main video slider help to navigate back and forth within the video clip.
•   The best part about this program, you can skip frame by frame or by any amount to find the exact frame you want to capture. The skip buttons and “skip amount” slider control the amount of frames to skip by.

Good luck,

Tracy

If you are running Windows XP, there is a program supplied with it called Windows Movie Maker that will allow you to capture frames from a movie file, although it does not support all known movie file types.

Gary,

Nothing wrong. I was funnin about Your CSA barrel and trying to sell you 2 ea instead of one.

Did you compare the .093 vented barrel to the .062?

                        Michael

Whatever you sent this time was too small for my tastes way ! , I opened it up already to take the 'thin 'normal fuse. ???

Tracy gave me some needle like 'sticks' of green fuse to use on the vent as you sent it  ......It's all good till you get a dud and try to clear the vent ... I like the bigger vent better .....

Yes no marking as I will use it to make a carriage of Rev. style twin trail ......! ;D

Did you get to see your gun on the movie ?

This guy is stamped and ready to go: a 69 caliber Napoleon, 13 1/2" long out of 2 1/4" stock.  It is one solid piece.  BTW:  it's got an 1/8" vent.

Did I get target fixation on the 1/16" vents?  darn...I knew what I was trying to effect.

These are some amazing pics!

I am new to this list, and just finished reading this entire thread. I was not even aware that cannons on this scale that can be fired existed – I feel deprived. I must now remedy that by building one of my very own. I have looked at all the choices from Brooks, and have no idea where to start. Any recommendations for a “starter” cannon? I was leaning towards either the 30cal mortar or the 50 cal Napolean. Any suggestestions are welcomed

WELCOME to the board!

It's an addiction.  So start with something that's fun.  George named it, find the ammo first.

Hi There,
Pyro13 my personal favorite has always been the .50 cal. Napoleon, .490 ball is easily available and it is a really nice looking barrel.

Pyro13,

Welcome to the board.  New Cannoneers always welcome.  As far as which Brook cannon to buy I am partial to the South African Miniature Cannon Club cannon-the SAMCC cannon.  But that because I had some influence in it's production.

The Napolean design with its clean lines and long history make it very popular.

And advantage of the Brooks barrel is they come in standard blackpowder rifle and pistol calibers.  Any gunshop that carries muzzle loading supplies will have the right callber round ball for you to shoot.

Later if you want to move to the next step and build you own gun, then you can follow George and Time advice and  find something to shoot and build a gun around it.

Ray will overcome this horrible injury. He is patient and resolute and knows what his goal is.

Look at what he did with this thread, from founding, to foundling, to nudging, (pushing) he created a masterpiece of internet intrigue. Bested by what on Greyeard Outdoors? (more than 27,000 hits and many additions to the Board) He has interested so many in Cannon and Mortars.

Ray will prevail!
