Just got a new .220 swift set up. What's the best grain size for varmints? Soft vs hollow? Anybody have experience with those scope mounted zenon lights? Do they work well, battery life, etc. Thanks in advance!

well ithink that the best grain to use 220 swift is 50gr pointed soft point .

Have been shooting one for MANY years and have tried everything out there and 52gr Speer SP's have been consistantly the best performers out of every rifle I have had it chambered for. They do make a mess out of a prarie dog too.

I personally own 2 220 swifts, one is a ruger and one a remington. The ruger will shoot any 55 grain bullet very well behind IMR4831. The best groups have been with 42.5 grains IMR4831, CCI benchrest primer, and 55 gr. Nosler ballistic tips. The remington on the other hand will shoot 52 grain and 60 grain bullets very well with IMR4064. I have expermitted with many different powders and primer combinations over the years and it takes time and patience trying to find the perfect load for a paticular rifle. Some reloaders will spent years trying to develop a load for a particular rifle. Chris

I have been shoting 220 swift for 15 yrs. and like 50 grn. v-max, ahead of 41grns of imr 4895. very deadly on anything.
