Need info; Buffalo Classic tang sight.
« on: May 23, 2005, 05:28:55 AM »
Wow!  Finally got my Buffalo Classic home out of lay-a-way (45-70) and I can't wait to shoot it!  I'm thinking I would like to either put on a tang sight (yea!) or scope it (Boo! but I may have to with my eye sight).  Anyway, I have read that some tang sights will install with a minimun of fuss and are proper height to work with the stock globe front.  Any info would be appreciated.  Also it seems to me that a tang sight would interfere with a proper hold on the stock.  Any input from people that use a tang sight?  Thanks  44 Man

This was my Buffalo Classic, when I had it, I used a sight from Lee Shaver that I had him mount a false tang in the wrist of the stock.

I also had him reverse the sight in it's mount so it would lie backwards for storage.  I could still get my thumb around the wrist fine and I have small hands.  Just pay attention to the type of sight and base you get.

It had WAY more than enough elevation.  It was only half way up at 600yds with smokeless loads.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
