H&R Deluxe Topper M488

Hello -

I was directed to this website through a Michigan Sportsman.com forum.  I recently received the shotgun described in the subject line in .410 bore.  I am looking for a manual and/or exploded view of the gun.  It is in fair to good condition, and I would like to restore it to fully usable condition.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

First of all, welcome to GB. There are a lot of very knowledgable people that haunt this site. Check out the H&R/NEF Rifle section for the FAQ's and other archived information, such as the year your gun was made by the letters in the serial #. Enjoy!  
   
Here is a link to Numerich Gun Parts, they may not have an exact schematic of your M488 but have several others that would probably be the same such as the M480 maybe? Just scroll down and take a look. How old is your gun, any idea? The newer guns have the transfer bar, the older ones don't.

I think this one is older - it was my Grandma's rabbit gun.  They hunted when my Dad was a "young lad", which would have been early 50's.  There are few markings on it other than what I have already identified.  It has a single bead for a sight with a small area on the receiver cleared out to align with the bead when the hammer is drawn back.  Any ideas?

Make a post in the H&R Collectables, Handguns & Misc. Forum, I am sure that someone will be able to tell you more about your gun. I am afraid I am not much of a historian on the old H&R's, but am trying to learn. :wink:
