Barnes bullets for .243
« on: May 24, 2005, 06:17:02 AM »
I already have a box of the Sierra 85gr GameKing bullets for the 243.  I just bought some Barnes triple shock 85gr off Ebay for $28 total, much less than the $35 local (plus tax), or the $33 from Midway.

I'm gonna use the Sierra's to work up an accurate load and TRY to transfer that to the Barnes bullet.  At over $.50 each, I don't want to have to experiment too much.

If these are accurate in the Handi, I'll buy some 180gr for my Savage 30-06.  Fred M had outstanding results in the 25cal with these so the 243 should perform about the same I figure.

Should make the good ol 243 suitable for any deer and for a well placed shot on black bear too.

Might even try some in the 223, for a "just in case" load.

Let us know how they work out and if they do indeed shoot good and if  you want some more, Cabelas sells them for $30 shipped....
