I believe they are a large retail outlet that orders large quanitities of special order - not cataloged - firearms from manufacturers.

Of course they sell regular cataloged firearms also, but are kind of known for offering special run stuff.

Davidson's is one of the largest firearms distributors in the country.  They are widely known to have thier own distributor editions of Winchesters and Rugers among other brands.  They're also known for thier lifetime guarantee on all firearms they distribute.  You do pay a bit more for this compared to other distributors.  They're located in Prescott, AR very close to the Arizone Ruger plant.   They're also a part of the TALO distributor group which offers it's own special model Rugers through the distributor group.
Besides Davidson's, other distributors also offer their own special run models.  Lipseys has been offering thier own models of MKII's and 45LC Hunters while Acusport has been offering us the stainless Bisley revolvers.

More details are needed before I pull the plug on this one.

They also offer many special edition Ruger firearms made just for Davidson's.  Not available through any other distributor.

Lipsy's and others also get their own special edition Rugers too.

But none of this answers why he started the thread originally.

I'm not sure but guessing it was placed in the Ruger area because of the connection so many people make between Ruger and Davidson's.  To not have known this indicates a relatively new-comer to this and seeing or hearing about these two companies together would've likely have made them inquire here.   Some have thought the two to be connected within because of thier physical proximity to each other.  Again, just speculating here.
