I am checking in from Calgary.

In a normal year I'll hunt biggame with archery, Rifle and Muzzleloader( in sask during the annual thanksgiving in-law visit ) . I mostly fly fish  but I do use hard gear as well ( I can go from my driveway to fishing on the Bow 5 - 10 min ) During runoff  I switch over to shooting PD's (.22 243 and soon to be 17 hmr).  This last winter I added the 243 so next winter I am back into yote's.  Then you mix reloading, fly tying and wood working. Oh yeah a family, a wife who likes to camp and three boys all with at least some interest  (The hardest part is waiting till they are ten to start them shooting)

Howdy.  Checking in from Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.  Still trees here, for another 130 clicks north (80 some miles). Great Fishin', Huntin', and snowmobiling for 10 months of the year (okay you caught me, only 8).   :D   Not much else to say.

:D Hi Everyone!! I'm checking in Thunder Bay where I hunt moose in 13 & 21a wmu's . I usually use my Tikka .338 winmag but also use my Browning '85 in 45-70 with 405's loaded to 1950fps. My wife & I have bull tags for both areas this year so... we'll see what pops up! Good luck to all in the Fall hunt!

I was raised in Sioux Lookout in northwestern Ontario.  Hunting was a family thing every fall.  Moved to Vancouver and did not get out in the bush for 20 years.  Last year I decided to go full circle and got back into shooting and hunting.  I've got a bull tag this year and will head out this week for moose, mulies and grouse.  The frustrating thing is that none of my friends hunt.  Deer is fine, but don't look forward to dealing with a moose on my own.  Such is life.

Hello again!!!  Well , I lucked out north of Nipigon on Oct 13th at 7.58 am!  A 150 yard one shot kill on a bull with a 50 " rack!! We got 636 lbs of meat off this guy & the butcher says it would have been in the 1200 lb. range for live weight!  My trusty Tikka .338 win mag came through once again!!I was using Winch. Failsafe ammo in 230gr. and boy does that stuff ever do a job! Looked alot like a rotorooter went in and just shredded the lungs to mush & cut the liver in half to boot. We are still looking for a calf for my wife to whack. Talk to you later- Merry CHRISTmas all!

Hi Gentlemen,
Checking in from north central B.C.  Recently retired and am looking forward to spending more time at lifelong outdoors and firearm interests.  I am into reloading, have an interest in older firearms ( currently in the midst of a small love affair with Model 99 Savages), hunt moose, deer, bear and birds locally, ran a trap line here for about 10 years, enjoy canoeing, fishing for rainbow close to home, and I try to head towards the coast once twice a year for the bigger stuff.  Still playing hockey at 57, so I've got to be Canadian, eh!

hey guys! just moved from another board. seems to be more canadians here. I'm from winnipeg, mb, hunt and fish here and make camo clothing here. also guide for deer.

Yes, it is always nice to find fellow Canadians, but one should try and support our own boards too, there are plenty of us to go around, I like also.

I am from the Regina SK Canada...have only visited a few times and am learning the ropes here.

I hunt Jumpers, Mules, Elk, antelope and a little upland bird.

Welcome aboard guys!

Big Red:

It's been killing me for a couple of days now, but I have to know - What's a "Jumper"?

rusty51:

I used to hunt with a guy from Windsor who's nickname was Rusty.  Unfortunately he died in a plane crash a few years back.

I still hunt with a couple of Windsorites - they're paramerdics down there.

JYC:

He mentions antelope in his post, so I'm guessing it's either rabbits or whitetails  It could be the elusive Wombeasel as well, though I don't think they travel any farther west than Ontario hunt camps during seasons when rookie hunters are present.

silly ontarioites, a jumper is a whitetail deer. what do ya think he meant, the jackalope? ahhh, jackalopes. delicous and plentiful, i've shot many a doe, but never even got a glimpse of a buck. someone must be having luck though, local taxidermist was displaying a few the other day.

Greetings.  My name is Cal.  I'm retired from CN's Management Services and live about 16 miles west of Montreal, with Franklin, my Giant Schnauzer.  Most of my time is currently spent at the rifle range or in my reloading room.  I hope to take an active part in the forum.  Best wishes to all.

Hello all.  I'm an American who came to Canada to visit some friends for a week.  That was 33 years ago, and I'm still here.  You never want to invite me to your house.  I tend to stay forever.  It's a terrific country with some really nice people.  I've really grown to love it.  I'm retired now and spend most of my days at a rifle range outside of Ottawa.  Best wishes.

Cal:

Since you live near Montreal and shoot in Ontario, I assume that its a range in the Hawkesbury/Vankleek Hill area.  If so, did you make it to the gun show in Vankleek Hill this year?
