There are a bunch of different manufacturers who make magazines for the 1911. If you had to pick one brand for absolute life-saving reliability, which one would you choose?

The Ed Brown Magazines are some of the best I've seen.

The Chip McCormick 8 rounders have never failed in any of my 1911s. Mikey.

Absoulutely Wilson! I purchased 6 Wilson mags over 15 years ago. (I honestly think it was closer to 20, but I promised I would not exagerate) These were 7 rounders and I got them used ($6 apiece). I kept them continually loaded for over 10 years and they never failed once. I finally felt guilty and replaced the springs and went to 8 round followers about 5 years ago. Yep, they're still loaded and have still never failed. I think the Mec-gar and McCormick and most all of the other quality mags are good, but Wilson has proven their reliability to me and I will stick with them. I just bought a 70 series Combat Commander and it came with one Colt mag and one no-name mag. I have carefully checked the Colt mag out and it has been reliable so far. The other mag I threw away! Am I opinionated? You bet! And with good reason. 44 Man

Metalform, Wilson, and Chip McCormic. All work equally well. I actually prefer the McCormic over the other two. It's a price thing.

I have one Wilson mag, which I keep loaded for defense. I also have nine Mecgar mags, that have never failed me over about ten years. They have a lifetime guarantee.

I have been using Chip McCormick mags and Shooting Star 8rd conversions for many years. They have not failed me yet. I had a SW1911 that came with 2 Wilson Mags. They mags fed well, but would not eject from the pistol. S&W replaced the mags, but I stopped using them and went back to my CMC Power Mags.
